Member of Købnerkirken?

What does it mean to be a member, what does the congregation expect of me as a member and how do I become a member?

What does it mean to be a member?

Becoming a member of Købnerkirken means, first and foremost, that you become part of an active, Christian community. The community consists of people with different backgrounds and life situations.

As a member, you have the opportunity to help shape, how the congregation develops. It is at our congregation meetings that decisions, big and small, about the congregation are made. As a member of the congregation, you have the right to vote at the congregation meetings. At the same time, you can also vote on who will sit on our church council. The church council is the congregation's "board", which together with the pastor leads the congregation on a daily basis. As a member of the congregation, you can also run for the church council yourself, if you have two members who recommend you as a candidate.

What does the congregation expect from me as a member?

If you are considering becoming a member, please contact our pastor, who will offer you a conversation. During the conversation, you will be introduced to the vision, values and work of Købnerkirken, and we would also like to hear who you are and why you are interested in our church. The purpose is - in addition to giving you the opportunity to hear more about the congregation - that you can ask us questions if you have something on your mind. In Købnerkirken, we welcome everyone who wants to be an active part of our community. Being active means contributing with the resources you have, whether it is personal, practical or financial.

Free Church, economy and volunteerism

Købnerkirken is a free church and a Baptist congregation which is part of the Baptist Church in Denmark. As a free church, we do not receive any public support. The economy therefore depends 100% on what the congregation members and other users of the church pay in voluntary contributions. What happens in the church is based solely on the voluntary financial contributions and that the congregation members contribute with their labor and with the abilities that each member wants to bring into action. Because we are a free church, the congregation also has a great deal of independence, where we decide for ourselves what we want with the congregation and the church.

How do I become a member?
