Who we are?
Here you will find a brief introduction to Købnerkirken, including our vision & values, who Købnerkirken is, what a Baptist church is, what we believe in and four people from our church who share why they are a part of Købnerkirken.
Our Vision
A free church for all!
-
Where everyone can experience God's love
-
Where we work to be a positive part of the local community
-
Where everyone is welcome regardless of life situation, background, sexuality etc.
Our Values
Open
Because we want to be open to God and people! Open to the love God wants to share with us and open to the people we meet. Because we believe that faith in a living God is an open and curious faith, where we do not have all the answers and listen more than we speak.
Common
Because we believe that people benefit from being together. Together in sharing life's joys and sorrows, together in laughing and crying, and together in being Købnerkirken.
Involved
Because we believe that God is involved in our lives and invites us to get involved in the world. Involved in each other's lives, involved in the world around us, and involved in the community of the church.
Cringy
Because we believe that Købnerkirken is not for the perfect, but for ordinary people. Cringy, because our church is not a streamlined community, but a wonderful mess and cringy, because there is room for error and making mistakes with us.
Generous
Because we believe that generosity changes the world. Generous because we want to be gentle with our gifts to each other and generous because we believe that life becomes so much richer when we share what we have with each other.
Kristian welcomes you and tells you in danish about what Købnerkirken is.
What is a baptist church?
Købnerkirken is a free church and a Baptist church, which is a part of the Baptist Church in Denmark, but what are Baptists, what is their relationship to the Bible, the Christian faith, and why have they been in conflict with the law?
You can get answers to that by reading the FAQ in Danish about Baptists by clicking here.
What do we believe?

Meet four people from the church who share why they are part of Købnerkirken.

Thomas
Thomas says:
"I'm part of Købnerkirken because there's room to breathe here – both theologically and personally."
"I feel that there’s space for me, and I experience that God and faith are spoken about in a way I can truly relate to – with an understanding that every human being has value and matters to the world."
"It’s an incredible gift to be in a place where that is actually lived out in practice."
"Right now, the church and this community fit perfectly with the phase my wife, our son, and I are in.
There are many other families we can relate to, spend time with, and share life with – and that really means a lot."

Ulrikke
Ulrikke says:
"After I moved to Copenhagen, Købnerkirken became my church home. Here, there was room for me to come just as I am."
"I experience a community where I can contribute with what I have to offer – and at the same time, learn a lot from the people I meet here. We see each other, listen to each other, and genuinely want to be part of one another’s lives."
"That means so much to me – and here, I feel God’s presence."

Niels-Erik
Niels-Erik says:
"I’ve actually been part of Købnerkirken my whole life. My parents came here, and so did my grandparents – so I guess you could say I’m a Baptist going back several generations."
"I’ve pretty much grown up in the church, and it’s become a natural part of my life. Maybe it started as something I was part of because my family came here, but over the years, I’ve chosen to stay myself. I love coming here because I feel peace when I walk through the door. This is where I belong, and this is where I have my faith."
"One of the things I really value is the openness that has grown in the church over the years. It means a lot to me to see how we now embrace people across our differences – and how the community has become stronger and more inclusive."
"I’ve had many roles in the church over the years – I was chairman of the youth group and treasurer for Købnerhus for 30 years. It’s been a big part of my life, and I look back on that time with joy."
"Now I’m retired, and that’s a new phase. I enjoy being able to relax a bit more and simply appreciate being part of the congregation. It’s wonderful to see how new generations are taking over – all the young people, the families, the children running around. That makes me happy and grateful."
"I truly believe that Købnerkirken is a place for all generations. There’s room for all of us – no matter our age – and that’s exactly how a church should be."

Laust
Laust says:
"I’m part of Købnerkirken primarily because of its view of the Bible. I think it’s a kind and open-minded way of approaching Christianity."
"It’s a place where you really feel that everyone is welcome – or at least that we do our best to make it that way. That means a lot to me."
"And I also come for the community. There’s a sense of peace and togetherness here that I really appreciate. It’s a place where you can be yourself and feel that you belong."
